Western Action

Ned Pepper

Western Action Shooting..... throughout many states in the USA closes down October/November and starts again March/April because of weather conditions. This period, is generally used to load ammunition and get kit in working order etc. ready for the Spring/Summer season. We can now understand why! Incidentally, Western Action Shooting is the fastest growing of all shooting sports throughout the world because it is good fun whilst still remaining a safe competitive shooting sport.
Last Year was our first full year of Western Shooting, albeit very short. (Again due to weather and range conditions) To the uninitiated Western Shooting is based around Revolvers, Rifles and Shotguns of the period when the American West was tamed. In the UK this equates to Cap & Ball Revolvers, Underlever Rifles in Pistol calibre only and side by side shotguns (non-eject) or pump action shotguns of the period.
We shoot at fun targets, which are generous in size, and the emphasis is on enjoying the “Spirit of the Game.” Some of us wear Cowboy hats and the odd item of Cowboy clothing but it is not mandatory. If you want to have some harmless fun, come along and try it.
